Site specific workshop in Moa Oasis

The workshop is filling up quickly.
For more information and registration about the Autumn workshop in Moa Oasis please contact: iritdulman@gmail.com

I'm happy to announce that I will host Adva Drori at the workshop, an artist and art therapist who deals mainly in installation, performance and site-specific works.

Drori will direct an earth-art workshop, and together we will be able to actively experience the creation of a site-specific work of art, which focuses on the site and is inspired by it. In addition, we will get to know well-known artists active in this field.
In the workshop we will work with personal and biographical elements as a source of inspiration, through emotional and psychological introspection.

"For me, creating is first and foremost a means of introspection, and out of the depths within me it enables me to view my surroundings creatively. Through understanding and accepting hidden, secretive parts of myself, which are revealed to me through the creative process, I am also able to accept and understand the Other  which stands before me.
In my own unique way I combine the personal and the public, and weave tales of action which are intimate and collective at the same time. I invite the viewers to 'roam my soul' and look for the personal cracks which lead to universal truths."

The pillar of salt fantasy

I'm not sure if I ever mention this. But my work is never complete without the photo shoot.
Many time it is gives the right meaning to the work. I love to do it with Idan. He understand me and my work perfectly and know how to get the best of it and I, love very much to change characters. To be someone else for a moment - to fantasise, to live on a different time, in different places.
For a very long time I wanted to take photos in the Dead Sea but I did not have the right work for this surrounding until recently.
We went there last week. Such a short drive and the atmosphere is so completely different. The landscape reminiscent the story of creation in Genesis. My head and my imagination immediately begin to work and the story of Genesis and also the story of lot's wife who looked back and turned to salt was playing in my head like a music.
And this is what we created. With water, wool, plants, fire, camera and the beautiful surrounding of one of the wonders in the world - The Dead Sea.
Hope you enjoy it. Take a moment and fantasise yourself. Your day can be completely different :)

Euca

It's no secret that I have deep sympathy to Eucalyptus trees. The Eucalyptus is much more than a dye plant for me. It's true that it is one of the most powerful plants if you want to get clear and sharp prints and it give beautiful result but for me it only the tip of the iceberg.

Although I do not an Australian, I know eucalyptus since I know myself.  They fill our country from north to south. In wild nature and in the cities.
Part of the curriculum for Israeli children in the lower grades is to study our history related to this new land and we learn at school about Eucalyptus and how they got here.
The trees brought here at the beginning of the last century with the first settlers in Israel. Israel back than still called Palestine.
The Arab local population in those days called the Eucalyptus "The Jews tree" because Eucalyptus and Jewish settlers came in at the same time.
They brought Eucalyptus because they thought they would help draining the swamps which occupied much of the area and caused diseases.
Eucalyptus symbolized healing and a new beginning for those people and over time it became a symbol. The Tree of Life.
A tree that emigrated to the land of immigrants. Acclimatized and merged, planted roots in a new land. Just like us.
Today the trees fill the whole country. They are under severe weather conditions without much water and they survive. Like us.

When I first started natural dyeing I used Madde, weld, cochoneal, etc... I got beautiful results but... there was no deep connection between me and the plants I use. When I discovered that I can use Eucalyptus for dyeing, I was so happy. It was just perfect for me because Eucalyptus is a part of my life in deep layers.
If I need to translate the word 'Nickname' from Hebrew to English, the translation will be 'Affection name' and yes... it deserve a nickname. Euca.
